Hunter pets?
I have a Hunter specd in Marksmanship. I have a wind serpent now but im not too sure if it can be classified as a tanking pet. i would figure that a mrk hntr would benefit most from a bear or boar or something…. Am I okay with a wind serpent or what else should i switch to?
Wind serpents are a very popular pet choice for WoW hunters because of their high damage, their ability to Dive, and the ranged skill Lightning Breath, which inflicts Nature damage on their enemies.
Personally I think you have better options out there but it truly will be your own personal preference.
I also have a Hunter Marksman spec’d. Once you get to 70, if you’re going to keep that spec, then you just want a DPS pet and not a tank.

Generally DPS pets you’ll want are a cat, raptor, or ravager. I personally have a Nethermine Ravager from Shadowmoon Valley. As a hunter, damage is king and the ravager brings it. I definitely recommend ravagers over cats for raiding, since gore is slightly better damage and, more importantly, procs both FI and Frenzy. The huge crit chance of gore means you only need 3/5 in Frenzy and can (if you’re cookie cutter BM) put a point in Catlike Reflexes for bonus to dodge.
